BOZEMAN – Slow-moving upper-level Low is weakening today, and the trough is digging into Northern Colorado. That means the storm is slowly drifting out of the region and loosing moisture.
Showers have been steady and more widespread near the Continental divide today and that moisture is trying to drop to the SE. Scattered showers and a few weak thunderstorms are possible over most of SW Montana this afternoon and evening.
Wednesday afternoon there is a greater chance for thunderstorms as the flow aloft turns out of the SW which will bring increasing temperatures and an unstable atmosphere.
The Storm Prediction Center has a “marginal” risk for strong to severe thunderstorms over SW Montana Wednesday afternoon and evening east of the divide. Some thunderstorms Wednesday could produce brief heavy rain, small hail, strong wind gusts, and plenty of lightning.
