BOZEMAN – The next weather maker will be a strong cold front racing across Montana Sunday afternoon and evening.

This frontal system will produce snow and strong surface winds. Watch for possible snow squalls or short duration ground blizzards with this cold front. The front should hit the Anaconda/Butte region between 4 pm – 6 pm and Bozeman after 6:30 pm.

Snow accumulations are not expected to be heavy but the combination of falling snow with surface winds 15 to 25 mph and gusting over 30 mph with the cold front will produce whiteouts for about 15 to 45 minutes as the front passes through the region.

Behind this front temperatures will fall below average again for the first several days of the next work week and watch scattered snow showers mostly on Monday.

Plan on wintry travel impacts at all levels Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Most valleys could see 1” – 2” of snow, mountain passes 2” – 4”, and above pass level 4” – 6” Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
