Snow, wind, and cold to impact Montana this weekend

BOZEMAN – The next weather maker is here and will continue to push snow from NW Montana down into Wyoming tonight through Saturday evening.

The combination of snow, gusty winds, blowing snow and reduced visibility, and wind chills -10° to -30° below zero makes this a dangerous storm for traveling and with the general hunting season starting this weekend.

The National Weather Service continues a WINTER STORM WARNING tonight through Saturday evening across most of western, central, and SE Montana and the northern half of SW Montana.

NWS forecast snow totals for valleys 6”-10” and mountains and passes 9” to 14”.

Wind gusts 30 to 40 mph.

Blowing and drifting and reduced visibility likely to have a dangerous impact on travel.

The National Weather Service has a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY up for Beaverhead, Madison, Gallatin counties and for Yellowstone National Park.

NWS forecast snow totals of 3”-10” for lower valleys and 10”-15” for mountains and passes.

Wind gusts 30 to 40 mph.

Blowing and drifting with reduced visibility will impact travel.

Wind chills -10° to -30° at times.

After this storm moves out Saturday evening skies will clear and that will allow the Arctic air to dig deeply down into the lower valleys producing below zero temperatures Sunday morning. Wind chills could be extremely cold even with a light wind Sunday morning.
