BOZEMAN – A mild temperature day across Montana with most max temperatures up into the 50s and 60s thanks to SW surface winds.
Almost Spring-like today, unfortunately changes are coming tonight.
The next weather maker is a strong Pacific cold front. Ahead and along the front surface winds will be strong this evening into Tuesday morning. High wind prone areas could see gusts over 50 mph whereas everyone else could see gusts 30 to 50 mph.
This front will bring snow as well, in fact, moderate to heavy wet snow is likely above 6,000’ tonight into Tuesday. Most (not all) lower valleys could see 2”-4” of snow.
The National Weather Service continues a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for western and SW Montana counties from 9 pm Monday to noon Tuesday.
General snow accumulations of 2”-4” is likely with possibly up to or over 6” for most mountain passes and up to a foot for most higher peaks.
Wintry travel impacts will develop overnight into Tuesday morning with snow and wind, lower visibility, wet roads turning icy for Tuesday morning commutes.
Behind this cold front temperatures will be trending much cooler for the rest of the week with scattered off-and-on areas of snow Wednesday into Thursday.
