BOZEMAN – Strong west to NW flow aloft will continue into Tuesday. More of the same tomorrow with areas of snow, heavy at times, over most mountain ranges along the Rocky mountain front and MT/ID state line.
Strong surface winds will also continue for the Livingston-Big Timber region with possible gusts to 60 mph.
Most of the storm energy is lifting up and over SW Montana through Wednesday. The only exception will be in the West Yellowstone area and Yellowstone National Park. Snow is likely to continue between Big Sky – West Yellowstone and Cooke City. Stronger mountain peak winds will continue and keep avalanche danger higher so backcountry enthusiasts beware.
Once this current storm system is downstream of Montana a colder temperature forecast begins. By early next week temperatures will be below normal.
