BOZEMAN - Our first good cold snap with snow will impact Montana beginning Wednesday morning along the hi-line and reaching southern Montana by Wednesday afternoon and evening.

East of the divide will see the brunt of the snow and wind but the entire state will experience colder temperatures by Thursday. A stronger push of colder Canadian air with a hint of Arctic air will dig through Montana Friday night through Monday. This will produce well below normal temperatures and possible record lows this weekend. There will be some snow with this second wave of cold Saturday.

Plan now to prepare for highs in the teens and 20s and morning lows in the single digits above and below zero by this weekend.

Back to the initial storm Wednesday and Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY across the hi-line Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

Snow accumulations of 2"-5" are possible for valleys and 6"-10" over mountains and passes in northern Montana. Gusty winds will also produce areas of blowing snow and cold wind chill values.

The National Weather Service has a WINTER STORM WATCH up for southern Montana Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon.

Snow accumulations of 10"-18" are possible for the mountains and lower valleys could see snow and gusty winds. This watch will likely get upgraded to a winter storm warning soon.

Travel will be hazardous across most of Montana east of the divide Wednesday through Thursday.
