Severe winter weather to impact Montana beginning Friday

BOZEMAN – Arctic air will dig down into Montana this weekend. The cold air will hit the hi-line by Friday morning and should reach Butte and Bozeman by Saturday morning.

Arctic air is just one element of this weekends forecast. Snow and wind will also produce harsh conditions and dangerous travel.

Snow should be widespread across Montana beginning Friday morning and continue through Monday morning. There will breaks in the snow showers but off-and-on snow will continue into Monday.

The National Weather Service has a WINTER STORM WARNING up for central and Northern Montana counties Friday morning through Saturday evening. Areas of heavy snow, gusty winds, blowing snow, bitter below zero wind chills are likely in areas highlighted.

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Jefferson and Broadwater counties from Noon Friday to 4 pm Saturday. Snow and wind will produce hazardous travel conditions. Snow accumulations of 2”-5” is possible with 8” or more for higher elevations.
