BOZEMAN – Deep trough of Low-pressure is digging into Montana Saturday afternoon producing scattered showers, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain.

Off-and-on showers and thunderstorms will continue to impact SW Montana Saturday afternoon and evening. Some slower moving thunderstorms could produce locally heavy rain, small hail, and strong outflow wind gusts.

Storm Prediction Center continues a "marginal" or low risk for a strong to severe thunderstorms over SW Montana Saturday afternoon and evening mostly east of I-15. A few storms could produce damaging hail and/or damaging wind gusts.

Sunday into Monday temperatures will be much cooler and fall below average. In fact, cool enough to produce snow above 6,000’ for most mountain ranges in SW Montana. The Pintlar, Pioneer, Gallatin, Madison, and Absaroka ranges could see heavy wet snow above 8,000’ with several higher peaks picking up a foot plus of snow.

Area rivers and streams will continue to run very strong and for those areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain Saturday into Sunday some could bust out of their banks. At this time there are no flood highlights up for SW Montana.

This system will pass out of the region beginning Monday afternoon and as skies begin to clear look for frosty morning temperatures Tuesday and possibly Wednesday mornings.
