BOZEMAN – Cooler than normal temperatures will continue into the first half of the Memorial Day Weekend for SW Montana. Temperatures will only reach the 50s Saturday but could warm up into the upper 60s to low 70s by Monday.
The next wet weather maker is lifting up into SW Montana from Idaho. A strong SW flow aloft is paving the way for increasing rain and snow to impact SW Montana mostly east of the divide. Areas of greatest concern will be Beaverhead, Madison, Gallatin, and Park counties.
Areas of moderate to heavy rain are possible from Livingston to Billings to Red Lodge.
The National Weather Service has issued a new Winter Weather Advisory from Midnight Friday through Noon on Saturday above 6,500’ for Madison and Gallatin counties. The advisory has been extended in Southern Park county through noon on Sunday.
Snow accumulations of 2”-5” is likely but 6”-12” is possible for the Absaroka-Beartooth ranges.
Pop up showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon across SW Montana both east and west of the divide. By Sunday the atmosphere will begin to dry up but a slight chance for an isolated mountain showers is possible.
The best weather day this holiday weekend will be on Monday.
