BOZEMAN – A crazy weather pattern to hit SW Montana over the next 3 days. Snow on Monday and now 90° temperatures are possible this Friday.
A big push of hot air is lifting up and over a High-pressure ridge and helping the hot air lift northward is a cold front over the Pacific NW. In other words, a strong SW flow aloft will produce our first widespread 90° temperatures for most (not all) of SW Montana.
A strong cold front will begin to slowly move into far western Montana by Friday night and reach SW Montana Saturday morning. This front will produce scattered showers, a few thunderstorms, but the biggest impact will wind.
Wind gusts Saturday morning through Saturday evening will be in the 30 to 40 mph range and for high wind prone areas east of the divide gusts to 50 mph or stronger are possible.
By Sunday we will be behind the front and with winds will settle down, but cooler air will dig back into the state. There will some showers and isolated thunderstorms Sunday for SW Montana.
