Isolated thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon

BOZEMAN - A weak disturbance is spinning up into Eastern Idaho, Western Wyoming, and Southern Montana today into Wednesday. Monsoonal moisture is producing higher humidity levels today and combined with warm surface temperatures is producing higher feels like conditions.

The biggest concern in the short term forecast is lightning associated with isolated thunderstorms over the next 24 hours. Once this disturbance exits the region by Thursday and High-pressure rebuilds over the region temperatures will once again jump up into the hot 90's and possibly a few upper 90's by the end of the week. Holdover lightning strikes from Tuesday and Wednesday could produce new fire starts later this week.

Some (not all) isolated thunderstorms could produce locally heavy rainfall Tuesday and Wednesday. At this time forecast models show there to be a higher probability of thunderstorms closer to Yellowstone National Park.
