BOZEMAN – Strong High-pressure is building over the region producing a long stretch of hot and dry weather.

The National Weather Service has a “heat advisory” up through Friday evening for far western Montana, northern Idaho, and eastern Washington State. Temperatures could hit between 95° to 110° Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures will not be that hot for SW Montana but look for most lower valleys to reach the low to mid 90s Thursday through Monday.

Please try and take it easy during the hot afternoon hours. Drink plenty of water, try and find air-conditioned areas, make sure pets have shade and plenty of water.

The Montana drought monitor is updated every Thursday and today it shows severe drought conditions have been eliminated over SW Montana. “Moderate” drought conditions now cover most of SW Montana east of the divide.
