BOZEMAN – Another warm to hot and dry day for SW Montana thanks to a blocking High-pressure ridge over the western U.S.
This type of pattern will produce mostly dry conditions and near to above normal temperatures. In fact, look for widespread 90s Wednesday.
This type of pattern can also help lift monsoonal moisture up into the Northern Rockies.
That is in the forecast beginning Wednesday evening and more thunderstorms Thursday into Friday afternoon. Over the weekend there is a slight chance for a few isolated late day thunderstorms as well.
The greatest concern with thunderstorms this time of year is dry thunderstorms. Numerous lightning strikes, gusty winds, dry vegetation, low humidity values, will all lead to possible new fire starts later this week into the weekend.
I am anticipating some fire weather highlights to be issued from the National Weather Service for later this week.
