BOZEMAN – Short term forecast is improving with a High-pressure ridge. Warm and dry conditions should continue through Tuesday and temperatures will climb into the 80s with a few lower 90s possible in SW Montana.

A pacific cold front will enter the picture mid-week. Ahead of the front look for temperatures to be very warm but increasing thunderstorms are possible Wednesday afternoon. The front should dig into western Montana Wednesday night into Thursday producing scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Behind this front a cooler than normal pattern will develop that should last through the weekend into most of next week.

In fact, looking at the Climate Prediction Center’s 6 to 10 day outlook Montana should see cooler than temperatures and slightly above normal precipitation.

This is great news as drought conditions have been worsening in SW Montana during the month of June. We need more rain to avoid serious consequences from drought and an early fire season start.
