BOZEMAN – Mild weather day for SW Montana with temperatures above normal this morning and well above normal Tuesday afternoon. In fact, the Bozeman and Belgrade region jumped up into the upper 40’s Tuesday afternoon and fell short of a record high by about 5 degrees.
Tonight, a cold front will pass through the state producing scattered snow showers and gusty winds. Travel impacts will be minor but look for around 1” – 3” of snow over most mountain passes and with localized gusty winds there could be some blowing snow issues for your Wednesday morning commute.
Temperatures will fall slightly behind the cold front Wednesday down closer to seasonal averages. Wednesday afternoon surface winds will increase as another warm front begins to move in from the west. Most areas could see West winds 15 to 30 mph Wednesday afternoon and stronger wind gusts in high wind prone areas.
Temperatures will likely warm back up into the 40’s Thursday but the overall weather pattern will continue to bring scattered off-and-on snow showers over most mountain ranges and mountain passes Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Thursday night into Friday, and another shot of snow early next week.
