BOZEMAN – A fast moving cold front will bring increasing rain or snow to SW Montana beginning Friday morning west of the divide and reaching areas east of the divide by Friday afternoon and evening.

Lower valleys could see a rain/snow mix with little to no snow accumulations but most mountain ranges above 5,000’ could see several inches of snow Friday. There is a chance for moderate to heavy snow banding with snowfall rates of 1” per hour Friday afternoon across SW Montana mountain ranges.

Mountain passes will be wet and could become icy by Friday evening. If you are traveling Friday into Saturday watch for icy bridge decks and mountain passes could be wet to icy at times. Above 6,000' 2" - 5" of snow is possible with higher mountain peaks could see over 6" of snow.

Big Sky to Cooke City to West Yellowstone appears to have the best chance for moderate snowfall Friday.

Over the weekend a weak disturbance will build over NW Montana Saturday morning and drop down into SW Montana Saturday evening. Watch for scattered snow showers which could continue to produce some wintry travel concerns into Sunday morning.
