BOZEMAN - The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center reports a snowcat groomer triggered a large avalanche and was caught in the slide which rolled the machine downhill. No injuries were reported.

The avalanche occurred in the Northern Gallatin Range Thursday evening. The groomer was attempting to plow a wind slab on a forest service road. This triggered an avalanche 400 feet above the snowcat. The slide hit the machine and knocked it downhill rolling it at least once which knocked out all the windows.

The slide occurred at the head of Swan Creek on a west facing slope.
