BOZEMAN – The atmosphere is slightly unstable this weekend and afternoon thunderstorms will impact SW Montana Friday and Saturday. Thunderstorms should be isolated and not widespread but some storms could be on the stronger side.

The Storm Prediction Center has a low risk or “marginal” risk for strong to severe thunderstorms over SW Montana both Friday afternoon and again on Saturday afternoon.

Some storms could produce brief heavy rain, small hail, strong outflow wind gusts, and a tremendous amount of lightning.

If you see threatening skies, please seek shelter until the storms have passed through your area. You can use our free KBZK STORMTracker Weather Mobile app to track thunderstorms this weekend.

Temperatures this weekend will be on the warm side mostly a mix of 70s and 80s Friday through Saturday but slightly cooler and windy by Sunday.

Fireworks show in Butte Friday evening should be dry. Thunderstorms should diminish around sunset. The only issue could be gusty winds around 10:30 pm. Don’t forget we will be broadcast the fireworks show on KXLF and KBZK starting around 10:30 pm.
