BOZEMAN – A pair of Pacific storms will impact Montana through Saturday. The first cold front is mostly dry producing stronger wind gusts and higher fire danger.
The second system will produce scattered showers Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. SW Montana will see some rain, but it should be less than a tenth of an inch for most reporting stations with mountain ranges seeing higher amounts.
The best chance for some moderate rainfall will be along the MT/ID state line and in the backcountry near Cooke City. Higher mountain snow is possible, but accumulations should be minor.
Temperatures will be cooler than normal for several days but should rebound nicely next week.
A RED FLAG WARNING is up for most of Montana through 9 pm Thursday evening. The combination of strong surface winds, lower humidity, and warmer than temperatures will produce extreme fire danger. So please use common sense when working or playing outdoors today.
