BOZEMAN – This weekend looks great for outdoor activities across the state. High-pressure is keeping our overall weather pattern dry and temperatures will be slightly above normal both Saturday and Sunday with a good mix of 80s.
The only concern this weekend with a west to SW flow aloft will be increasing wildfire smoke. Forecast models show possible thick smoke could drift over Montana Sunday into Monday. Air quality will likely worsen by the end of the weekend into early next week.
Forecasters are also worried about Monday for possible critical fire weather conditions. The forecast has a triple threat moving back into the region with warm, dry, and windy conditions increasing fire danger.
There could be some Fire Weather Watches or Red Flag Warnings issued later this weekend for Monday afternoon and evening. For now, plan on using extreme caution with outdoor activities Monday afternoon and evening to avoid accidental new fire starts.
