Several rounds of rain and snow this weekend

Posted

BOZEMAN – Storm clouds look dark and ominous Friday afternoon that is due to the atmospheres ability to hold more moisture because of the warming temperatures. The atmosphere is slightly unstable as well and a few isolated thunderstorms could develop Friday afternoon into Friday early evening.

Some of these thunderstorms could produce locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

A cold front will pass through the region by Saturday morning and produce increasing rain or snow for SW Montana. Snow levels will remain above the valley floor around 6,000′ with minor accumulations for some of our mountain passes by Saturday morning.

Behind this front temperatures will be slightly cooler Saturday and gusty winds are also likely across Montana.

Ahead of the next weather maker Sunday temperatures will jump back up into the 50s but will drop off sharply by Tuesday. This weather pattern is very active over the next 5 to 7 days with numerous storms systems to bring more rain and snow to the region.
