BOZEMAN, Mont. — With more and more people visiting the Hyalite area every year, more trash is being left behind.

Hyalite is a pack-in pack-out area which means you must bring your trash with you when you leave. Hyalite is maintained by the Custer Gallatin National Forest who are tasked with cleaning the outhouses and maintaining trails in the region but not to pick up your trash.
Board President of Friends of Hyalite, Hilary Eisen says if you simply take personal responsibility for your trash and remind others to do so, Public lands can be enjoyable for everyone.

“If you see people leaving garbage, it’s a good idea to ask people to pick up after themselves. If we all od our part to be diligent of taking care of Hyalite and other public lands together we can do our part,” Eisen said.
