Montana’s unemployment rate drops

Governor Steve Bullock announced Friday Morning that Montana’s unemployment rate has reached a 10-year low for the second straight month, decreasing 0.1 percentage points to 3.4% in July.

The national unemployment rate has remained steady in July at 3.7%.

Total Employment in agricultural, payroll and self-employed workers had a gain of 1,371 jobs in July. The labor force grew by 791.

Employment in payroll added 900 jobs in July.

The construction industry had significant job gains in July, with 600 jobs added, marking 2.1% growth. Job losses were concentrated in retail trade and leisure and hospitality industries.
