A 58-year-old man from Gillette, Wyoming died after crashing his motorcycle into oncoming traffic while trying to pass on Highway 314 south of Kirby, Montana around 5:17 p.m. Saturday, according to Montana Highway Patrol.
The Gillette man was traveling southbound on Highway 314 riding a 2018 Harley Davidson Motorcle. Near mile marker 18, he attempted to pass on a bend in the road, according to Montana Highway Patrol.
During the attempted pass, the motorcyclist struck a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a camper trailer. The truck tried to move out of the way, but the motorcyclist hit the truck and camper.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
MHP said the man was not wearing a helmet.
The truck was occupied by two adults, a 27-year-old man and 25-year-old woman from Billings along with three children. None of the truck's occupants were injured and all were wearing seat belts.
Road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash.
