BUTTE - A group called Montana Magic Makers think Butte needs a good dose of spring cleaning.
“A lot of people don’t give Butte a second chance because they’re put off by how our streets look,” said Montana Magic Makers founder Marcy Joyce.
The group is organizing volunteers to get out each weekend and clean up alleyways and back streets. And there’s plenty of work to be done.
“It appears rundown, there’s graffiti all over, there’s trash all over, there’s streets and alleys and sidewalks you can’t walk down because they're overgrown,” said Joyce.
The group is hoping the clean up effort will help improve Butte’s image.
“Just trying to get the word out there, you know, to make a huge difference in the community. Everybody can do their part,” said volunteer Gail Stuart.
This group hopes to set an example, so that if other people see them cleaning up, hopefully they’ll pitch in and do the same thing.
“We can cry around about the economy all day, but if we’re not doing things to clean up our town it’s not going to get better,” said volunteer Heath Eisentrager.
