BUTTE — About 50 people gathered Thursday for a candlelight vigil on the steps of the Butte Courthouse in remembrance of the passing of a Supreme Court Justice and a local activist.

They came to honor the life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Butte human rights activist Mary K. Craig, who died last week.

“We are gathered here to celebrate two lives, one in our own community Mary Kay Craig, and one in our nation, Ruth Bader Ginsburg,” said Sister Mary Joe MacDonald. “Both of them were women of integrity, women of courage, women of strength, and women who were unafraid to speak out for the vulnerable and the poor.”

Speakers in attendance also included Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins.
