Reminder for homeowners: Don’t shovel snow into the street

Posted

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Snow piling up on the side of the road is causing problems for drivers.

It’s illegal in Bozeman to push snow out into the street or into the public right of way from your sidewalk, parking lot, or driveway. This can cause accidents by not allowing enough room for both drivers and snow plows to operate.

With all of the snow that has fallen in the past week, residents and business owners are struggling to find places to put the snow. The City of Bozeman understands this but wants to emphasize how important it is to keep the snow away from the street.

“Keep it on your own property; if you do have to come out, we do understand. With some of the business plowing, try to get back to the curb as close as you can. Our large equipment can take it from there.” Bozeman Street Superintendent John VanDelinder said.

The next concern will be getting storm drains cleared once the snow is cleared.
