Taking down the Christmas tree? Here’s where you can drop it

Posted

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Bozeman has set up three Christmas tree disposal areas for residents to get rid of their trees.

The first is on Tamarack and 5th near the BMK park, the second is at Christie Fields on South Rouse, and the third is located on the Softball Complex off of Haggerty.

Wreaths and other decorations will not be collected. Trees can be dropped off at the stations but must be cleared of all ornaments, tinsel, and decorations.

“The real key for us is that the trees are clean,” said city forester Alex Nordquest. “No ornaments, twine, lights. We get a lot of stuff like that and we really just need a whole, clean tree to process it into natural mulch.”

The city chips the trees and turns them into mulch that will be used for the local parks and a perch habitat at Canyon Ferry.
