BUTTE – Police in Butte are investigating a garage fire that happened last night in the Uptown area.   This is the second suspicious fire in a month.

Just like last time, the fire happened in a detached garage to this vacant residence in the 600 block of West Silver Street just before 9 p.m.

Firefighters from the Butte Fire Department quickly put the fire out and reported no injuries from the blaze, which heavily damaged the small garage.

“The fire department did interview a few people, they then turned their report over to us, it has been assigned to a detective, we will be looking into it today or tomorrow and see if we can interview some more witnesses in the area and maybe some neighbors in the area to see if they saw anything suspicious,” said Butte Undersheriff George Skuletich.

Police are also investigating a suspicious fire on Aug. 6th to a garage in the 800 block of West Granite Street. It’s not certain if these two fires are related.
