As Butte’s Finlen Hotel approaches the century mark, its owners are ready to move the historic hotel into the future.
”Butte is on a comeback and we are investing in the future that we envision,” said J.J. Adams, one of the hotel owners.
This includes investing in a $3 million project that will include restoring 30 rooms on the building’s east tower, which is now used as storage. Management believes the history of the hotel will attract more visitors.
“This hotel has hosted Thomas Edison, Charles Lindbergh, JFK and Jackie Onassis,” said Adams.
The hotel has stepped into modern times by adding 50-kilowatt solar panels on the building to make it more energy efficient.
“We’re super excited about what that means for our participation in these initiatives,” said Adams.
And the Finlen Hotel will be celebrating its 96th birthday on New Years Day. The owners here believe this hotels promising future will come from its rich past.
“It you’re looking forward to what Butte will be five years from now, which we are, we have total confidence in it,” said Adams.
The hotel is seeking a $400,000 community development block grant from the state Department of Commerce to help in these projects.
