BUTTE — A Butte man was arrested Tuesday evening, accused of wounding a man by stabbing him several times.

Robert Arellano, 39, faces two felony counts of assault with a weapon in connection with stabbing a man multiple times while the victim was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of Town Pump on Montana Street. Arellano also is accused of threatening the clerk with a knife at the store.

The incident occurred about 9:15 p.m. when officers arrived at the store to investigate the threat. Arellano was questioned by police and officers noticed he had an injury to his hand. As police were taking him to St. James HealthCare for treatment, police received a report that a man was being treated in the hospital with multiple stab wounds.

After reviewing video from the store, police allege Arellano was responsible for stabbing the victim.

Arellano remains jailed Wednesday.
