The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding $73,821,822 in emergency funding to 71 airports in Montana due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, according to an FAA press release.
The grant funding is part of the Trump Administration’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Airport Grant Program.
According to the press release, funding will support continuing operations and replace lost revenue due to declines in passenger traffic and other airport business due to COVID-19.
Funds can be used for airport capital expenditures, airport operating expenses including payroll and utilities, and airport debt payments.
“This $10 billion in emergency resources will help fund the continued operations of our nation’s airports during this crisis and save workers’ jobs,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
According to an FAA map of CARES funding, Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is slated to receive $15,446,029 in emergency funds.
