Montana adds 94 COVID-19 cases (Tuesday, July 28)

UPDATE: 7/28/2020 - 12:10 PM - According to a press release from the Gallatin City-County Health Department, as of Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at 12 p.m. Gallatin County has 12 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, for a cumulative total of 804. There are 66 confirmed active cases and five current hospitalizations. There have been a total of 736 people recovered in Gallatin County. Two people have died from COVID-19 complications.

Montana added 94 new COVID-19 cases to the total on the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map Tuesday, with 1,320 cases reported as active.

Gallatin County added another 28 new cases for a total of 802. The state reports 136 active cases in Gallatin County.

Five new COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in Montana late Monday and Tuesday morning, bringing the total statewide to 51.

In addition, 94 new COVID-19 cases were reported across the state Tuesday morning.

The new deaths include a man in his 40s in Yellowstone County and two people over the age of 65 in Custer County (the first deaths there), which were all reported Tuesday. A man in his 50s from Gallatin County was reported dead Tuesday, while another death was reported Monday in Lincoln County.

Yellowstone County now has 23 COVID-19-related death while Gallatin County has two.

The Gallatin City-County Health Department announced Tuesday morning that a Gallatin County man died due to COVID-19 and other underlying health conditions.

The man was in his 50s and was found unresponsive at his home on July 7.

Gallatin City-County Health Department was informed Monday that the state medical examiner attributed the death to COVID-19 and a number of significant underlying health conditions.

• TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: Montana now reports 3,475 cumulative cases statewide, with 2,104 people recovered.

• HOSPITALIZATIONS: There are currently 62 patients hospitalized. There have been 205 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

• ACTIVE CASES: The state reports there are currently 1,320 active COVID-19 cases in Montana.

• TESTING: The number of tests increased by 2,753 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 161,408.

• DEATHS: The cumulative number of deaths in Montana stands at 51.

Governor Steve Bullock announced a statewide directive requiring face coverings/masks in Montana on July 15. The directive applies to counties that have four or more active cases of COVID-19.

The directive requires that masks be used in most indoor settings and where social distancing cannot be maintained. Bullock said businesses will have the right to deny entry of anyone not wearing a mask.
