Montana adds 82 new COVID-19 cases (Tuesday, August 4)

UPDATE: 8/4/2020, 12:30 pm - As of Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at 12 p.m. Gallatin County has 18 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, for a cumulative total of 904. There are 55 confirmed active cases and one current hospitalization. There have been a total of 846 people recovered in Gallatin County. Three people have died from COVID-19 complications.

Fifteen cases that were previously reported were reassigned to Gallatin County after further investigation, and added to previous days’ totals.

PREVIOUS:

Montana added 82 new COVID-19 cases to its total on the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map on Tuesday.

Big Horn County added 15 new cases for a total of 213 active cases in the county.

• TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: Montana now reports 4,314 cumulative cases statewide, with 2,766 people recovered.

• HOSPITALIZATIONS: There are currently 70 patients hospitalized. There have been 238 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

• ACTIVE CASES: The state reports there are currently 1,484 active COVID-19 cases in Montana.

• TESTING: The number of tests increased by 1,728 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 181,236.

• DEATHS: The cumulative number of deaths in Montana is now at 64.

The 26th COVID-19 death in Yellowstone County was confirmed Friday, along with the third death in Gallatin County.

Governor Steve Bullock announced a statewide directive requiring face coverings/masks in Montana on July 15. The directive applies to counties that have four or more active cases of COVID-19.

The directive requires that masks be used in most indoor settings and where social distancing cannot be maintained. Bullock said businesses will have the right to deny entry of anyone not wearing a mask.
