BUTTE — Bars, casinos, and restaurants in Butte will be allowed to stay open longer after the Board of Health loosened COVID-19 restrictions Thursday evening.

The health board voted unanimously to amend its COVID-19 restrictions to allow businesses that serve alcohol to remain open until 12:30 a.m. In December, the board mandated that bars and casinos had to close by 10 a.m. after Butte had a spike in positive COVID-19 infections.

The amendment will still require businesses to not exceed 50 percent capacity, and any gatherings of 25 or more must be approved by the Health Department.

The board said it could roll back the time change if Butte has another spike in infections.
