DENVER (KMGH) — You’ve probably seen the video. It shows a Colorado mother stuck in traffic, dancing to the Backstreet Boys while her son hides his face in shame.

The video has gone viral. And from Britain to Taiwan, “Dancing Mom” Wendy Gossett is enjoying her time in the spotlight.

“I had someone from Great Britain tell me I looked ‘tidy,’” laughed Gossett.

The video shows the Highlands Ranch woman busting a “tidy” move on 1-25 while her teenage son, Nathan, looks on in horror.

“I saw her going out and starting to dance, and all the other drivers looking at her. I’m like ‘please no, mom.’ She’s like, ‘record this.’ I’m like, ‘no,’” said Nathan.

On Jan. 18, a snowstorm had Gossett, her daughter Jordan, and Nathan stuck in traffic for five hours near Castle Rock.

“There were like 20 cars piled up on the side of the road. It looked like a zombie apocalypse,” said Gossett.

Tensions in the SUV were high.

“I was kind of at the breaking point,” said Nathan.

Like an answer to a prayer, the Backstreet Boys came on the radio.

“It was ‘Everybody Rock Your Body.’ So, it was perfect,” laughed Gossett.

While her daughter shot video, Gossett danced her way down the highway. For Nathan, it was a walk of shame.

“I think most parents aren’t trying to embarrass their children,” said Nathan.

“We’re just naturally embarrassing,” said Gossett.

Gossett is a parenting coach. She told her kids she was simply trying to make the most of a bad situation.
But Nathan is still not buying it.

“I was like trying to respect that in my brain, but it just wasn’t working out for me,” he laughed.

After posting the video on Facebook, Gossett’s dance went global. She and the family have appeared on several network programs and received emails from around the world.

And to prove she’s now larger than life, Gossett also received tweets from two of the Backstreet Boys themselves.
