Rogers, Ark. (KHBS/KHOG) — Rogers police confirmed that Jeremy Merriman was arrested Saturday on aggravated assault charges.

One witness tells 40/29 that she saw the suspect chase down, tackle and hold a boy in a choke-hold in her neighborhood on South 16th Street in Rogers.

Kim Gallicio said the indecent took place in her front yard. She said she was scared to intervene so called 911 and began taking pictures of what was happening.

She said the man called the boy a racial slur and then directed his hostility towards her and her grandchildren.

“He goes, ‘F-you, you old white woman,'” said eye-witness, Kim Gallicio. “And then he looked at my two grandchildren and he said ‘F-you, and used the n-word to both of them’.”

According to Rogers Police, the suspect told them the kid he was restraining had thrown rocks at his vehicle.

“If a rock was thrown at a truck and there was no damage to the truck, the man could’ve stopped right there, got out the car, and called the police there instead of chasing this boy several streets down and tackling him several times and restraining him,” said Gallicio.
