SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. (KHOG) — A jury has found Cathy Owens not guilty of child abuse, after she was accused of shooting a gun at her grandchildren. The jury did find her guilty on two misdemeanor charges of reckless conduct with a firearm and resisting arrest.
Cathy Owens was charged after the sheriffs office said she shot a firearm at her grandchildren.
Owens previously told 40/29 News she did not shoot directly at her grandchildren, and she never intended to hurt anyone.
The jury recommended Owens be sentenced to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine for the reckless conduct charge, and one year in jail and a $500 fine for the resisting arrest charge.
Her sentencing hearing will be held on March 4th. She will be allowed out on bond until the hearing.
