LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WLKY) — A federal arrest warrant has been issued and a reward is being offered in the case of a missing armored truck driver.
Investigators said Mark Espinosa, 29, and an undisclosed amount of money vanished from outside Jefferson Mall on Dec. 5, 2018.
Espinosa was waiting in the Garda armored vehicle at the back of Jefferson Mall, near the old Macy’s, while his co-worker made drops inside.
When his co-worker came back, Espinosa and the cash from the truck were gone.
Police said they have ruled out the possibility of a random act of violence and believe Espinosa planned the theft and vanished.
On Dec. 10, 2018, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Espinosa, who is now considered a fugitive.
Garda is offering a reward of up to a $50,000 for the recovery of the stolen money and the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Additionally, the FBI is offering a reward of up to a $10,000 in the case.
Investigators said Espinosa is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Police said Espinosa has ties to the northeastern United States and has family members on the West Coast, in Texas and in Florida.
He was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and dark blue pants.
Police said there were no cameras with views of the area where Espinosa disappeared.
