MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (WPTV) — Three students from two high schools became ill in Martin County after using vape pens, according to the Martin County School District and the sheriff’s office.
The students, two girls and a boy, attend either Martin County High School or South Fork High.
The unnamed student from South Fork had a seizure and the pair attending Martin County High were in and out of consciousness, investigators said.
The district said students have been found using vape pens on campuses with THC oil and dangerous substances.
“Be involved. Pay attention. These vape pens, if you don’t know what they are, look them up. Know what they look like and what to look for…. go through their bookbags, look through their rooms to be actively involved, educated and informed. Pay attention,” said Martin County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Ryan Grimsdale.
The district sent a robocall to parents and asked them to speak to their children.
The affected students are expected to recover. The exact substances they used has not been released.
