PHOENIX (KNXV) — A Phoenix neighbor reportedly helped an abused child suffering from bruises to his back, neck and head.
Phoenix police report that on Sunday afternoon, an 8-year-old boy went to a neighbor’s home near 27th Avenue and Van Buren Street after he was beaten with a belt.
The neighbor reportedly saw bruises to the child’s face, back of his head and dried blood on his nose.
The boy reportedly told the neighbor that his step-father, 30-year-old Guillermo Saucedo, struck him with a belt.
The child was transported to the hospital.
Police say the victim had, “extensive bruising on the back of his head, neck, his entire back, around his ribs, and up and down the front and back of his upper arms.”
He also reportedly had a broken tooth.
Police say Saucedo admitted to hitting the boy saying, “he lost his mind.”
Saucedo was arrested for child abuse and his next court hearing is January 8.
