City of Tonawanda, NY (WKBW) — A City of Tonawanda man is facing charges after police say he doctored a doctor’s note to excuse himself from court appearances in Tonawanda City Court.

According to investigators, James B Grosskopf, 32 of Franklin Street, generated two doctors slips by a home computer and forged the doctor’s signatures. Detectives said they were able to verify the notes were fake after visiting the medical offices whose names/practices were on the slips submitted by Grosskopf.

His court appearances stem from a previous larceny charge.

Grosskopf is charged with misdemeanor forgery, and misdemeanor fraudulently obtaining a signature, and held for arraignment.
