Mobile, AL (WALA) — The Mobile man charged with shooting his daughter appeared in court for a bond hearing Wednesday morning.
Robert Hooper is accused of shooting into a car on the interstate, wounding his own nine-year-old child daughter.
But court documents allege Hooper terrorized the five people in that car, including two other children, Sunday night before opening fire.
Those documents say Hooper shot into the victim’s car with a .380 pistol and also rammed it multiple times with an S.U.V.
Hooper didn’t say anything to reporters as he was being led from Mobile Police headquarters.
Court documents show a magistrate judge found probable cause to believe Hooper shot into the victim’s car while ramming it from behind multiple times.
Police had said Hooper shot at a car with adults and three children inside, including one of his own, his nine-year-old daughter, who was in a car with her mother on I-10 East near Broad Street.
So the situation could have been even worse.
Corporal LaDerrick DuBose with the Mobile Police Department said, “There were other children. I don’t have the exact ages on me right now.”
When asked if they were hurt, he said no: just the one child.
Hooper has an arrest record.
Court records show back in 1999, when he was 18, he tried to rob someone at gunpoint.
He was sentenced to serve 20 years with 16 of those suspended.
On his Facebook page, a picture of a gun was posted Friday, just two days before the shooting, with a caption saying, My new toy.
Just hours after the shooting, there was another post reading: “Savage life heartless.”
The nine-year-old daughter is still in the hospital recovering.
We’re told the injury is not life-threatening.
