SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) — A 5-year-old girl child died Wednesday, two days after suffering injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Shreveport.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office says Chloe Maines died just after 5:30 a.m. at Ochsner LSU Health hospital. She suffered a spinal cord injury, according to a family member’s Facebook post.

The car crash was reported just before 8 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Youree Drive and Sophia Lane. Chloe was a passenger in a vehicle that was T-boned by another driver who was unable to stop because of the wet road.

Her aunt, Tiffany Wade, shared news of the tragedy on Facebook. Chloe’s mother, Megan Maines, and a brother also were injured in the crash.

Chloe celebrated her fifth birthday Monday.

A gofundme account was set up initially to help the family with medical expenses. Almost $10,000 was raised.

Today, Wade posted the following on the page: “Dearest Friends and Family our beautiful baby girl Chloe was called to Heaven early this morning. Thank you all for your prayers and continued support. Arrangements to follow.”
