TOLLESON, Ariz. (KPHO/KTVK) — A team of utility workers was in the right place at the right time to a 3-year-old boy who tumbled into a canal Thursday morning.
It happened shortly after 11 a.m. near 99th and Southern avenues.
The crews were working in the area and saw the little boy fall into the canal. They reacted immediately and had him out within 30 seconds.
The Lyons Roofing News Chopper was over the scene. Video showed how fast the water moves in that area.
The toddler is being assessed and appears to be in good condition, according to the Rural/Metro Fire Department. He went with his parents to the hospital.
It’s not clear what the child was doing when he fell into the canal.
Early reports were that an SRP crew had rescued the boy but when Arizona’s Family checked with the utility company to find the heroes, a spokesman said there was no record of an SRP crew in that area.
Arizona Family’s is still trying to track down the crew and talk to the rescuers.
