BOZEMAN – A blast of winter like weather continues to impact SW Montana through Tuesday evening. Periods of snow and gusty winds will produce difficult to hazardous travel impacts especially over mountain passes.

After midnight the weather pattern will begin to slowly settle down, but strong wind gusts are likely through 6 am from Livingston eastward across the eastern half of Montana with peak gusts around 60 mph.

High-pressure will slowly build over Montana starting Wednesday and should produce a quieter overall weather pattern. Temperatures will remain cold Wednesday and slowly increase Thursday and Friday into the 30s to lower 40s.

The greatest concern for travel will be tonight into Wednesday morning. Watch for periods of snow, gusty winds, blowing snow, and icy road conditions.

The National Weather Service has a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY up for most of western, central, and all of southwestern Montana through 8 pm Tuesday.

Short burst of intense snow, wind gusts 30 to 50 mph, and colder temperatures will produce difficult to hazardous travel conditions.

The National Weather Service has a HIGH WIND WARNING up now through early Wednesday morning for the entire eastern half of Montana.

Peak wind gusts up to or over 60 mph are possible. Watch for areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.
