Gusty winds and scattered rain showers are expected for the region for your Thursday. Winds are expected to pick up between 10-20 mph out of the southwest for the afternoon with occasional wind gusts approaching 30-40 mph late in the afternoon. Spotty rain showers with an isolated thunderstorm will be likely though the afternoon and evening. Southern Gallatin and Madison Counties could see wet snow showers that could impact travel above 6500 feet.
We do have a Winter Weather Advisory above 6500 feet for Gallatin and Madison Counties starting Thursday at 9 PM through Friday at noon. Areas most impacted will be West Yellowstone, Raynolds Pass and Targhee Pass. Visibility will be low with slushy and wet snow accumulations between 2”-5” possible.
BOZEMAN: High: 59; Low: 36. Gusty wind and scattered light rain are expected for the afternoon and evening. Winds will stay out of the southwest between 10-25 mph with gusts near 40 mph possible.
BUTTE: High: 56; Low: 32. Windy for the afternoon with light rain into the evening. Our winds will start out of the southwest between 10-20 with gusts near 30 and shift tonight out of the northwest between 10-25 mph. Some rain showers in the area may transition to a rain/snow mix by early Friday morning.
DILLON: High: 58; Low: 34. Gusty wind and off and on rain for the day. Winds out of the west to southwest between 15-30 mph. Light snow may mix in with rain showers overnight.
WEST YELLOWSTONE: High: 50; Low: 34. Misty light rain for the morning and early afternoon with gusty winds through the afternoon and evening. Expect a transition to snow overnight with accumulations of heavy wet snow between 2”-5”
MEMORIAL DAY OUTLOOK:
Memorial Day weekend will start off cool with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s on Saturday with a mix of rain and snow possible early Saturday morning. The afternoon looks to slowly dry out with partly cloudy skies. Sunday will be slightly warmer with highs in the low 60s with plenty of sunshine. Monday should bring highs near 70° under sunny skies.
