Record low temperatures crushed in SW Montana Monday morning

EXTREME COLD SETS RECORDS:

Records around the region were crushed early this morning. In fact, The record in Butte was 9° back in 2002 and this morning’s low was 27° below that with a whopping -18° this morning. While the records are still preliminary this morning, we have a list of a few of those records. West Yellowstone dropped to -20° making it the second coldest place on Earth behind Antarctica which came in at -49°.

Today's Forecast:
The record low temperatures this morning will slowly warm back to the 20s this afternoon with mostly sunny skies and some patchy fog. Winds are expected to be between 5-15 mph most of the afternoon with another cold evening, but with lows only falling to the low teens or single digits.

BOZEMAN: High: 28; Low: 10. Temperatures will struggle today with highs making it to the middle and upper 20s under clear skies.

BUTTE: High: 23; Low: 7. Extremely cold again for the afternoon but with mostly sunny skies for the afternoon and evening. Lows tonight will fall quickly but should not be as extreme as they were early Monday morning.

DILLON: High: 31; Low: 14. Lots of sunshine should push daytime highs back to the upper 20s or low 30s for the afternoon.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: High: 30; Low: -1. After dealing with a record low this morning, daytime temperatures are expected to rebound with mostly sunny skies through the afternoon.
