DROUGHT CONDITIONS CONTINUE: The latest drought monitor shows that drought conditions continue to expand across Montana. Right now a little over 56% of the state is considered abnormally dry which is up about 6% from last week. The most glaring change is in Beaverhead and Madison counties where we are seeing about 1.74% of the state considered severe drought. While rain showers and snow moved in this week, we have yet to see those showers alleviate the drought conditions in the area. The positive outlook with this is that the snowpack numbers in western Montana are overall still very good, with the exception of a few of the eastern basins with very low or no snowpack.
