Nice cooling trend today

Posted

BOZEMAN – Temperatures today are running cooler compared to Wednesday with mostly low to mid-80s this afternoon. A cold front passed through the state yesterday and now a weak NW flow aloft is pushing temperatures down slightly below seasonal averages.

FIRE WEATHER WARNING

The National Weather Service continues a Red Flag Warning for most of central and northern Montana and for Jefferson, Broadwater, Meagher, and northern Gallatin Counties through 9 pm Thursday.

Low humidity, warm temperatures, dry conditions, and localized gusty winds will keep fire danger very high and with this type of weather pattern human-triggered fires are possible so please use extreme caution with all outdoor activities.

NEXT WEATHER MAKER

Watch for a few late thunderstorms Friday and Saturday. Monsoonal moisture will likely lift up into SW Montana Friday through Sunday and could produce a few late afternoon thunderstorms mostly south of I-90. Most of these rumbles will develop over area mountain ranges but a few could impact the valleys below.
